Snakes Alive ~ Indeed!!

There is a song by Steven Curtis Chapman that says:

I can see the fingerprints of God
When I look at you
I can see the fingerprints of God
And I know its true
You're a masterpiece
That all creation quietly applauds
And you're covered with the fingerprints of God

So look around you and see where YOU can see God's fingerprints. Is it in Nature? Kids? Animals? Where do you see them?

Then hop on over to
Pampering Beki's Blog ~ she's the Fabulous Hostess for this inspirational event!!

For Fingerprint Friday ~ I wanted to share with you this picture I took last year. It was taken in the Parker Jungle a/k/a our Back Yard. Do you see the Black Snake in the middle of the picture? Well, I really don't like snakes ~ but they are one of God's Creatures ~ so I just try and keep my distance from them.

This morning ~ I pulled the Shower Curtain back and there was a Black Snake in our Shower. Of course, Mr. Bunny was at work and little Baby Bunny said ~ "You're on your own". She usually has such a pleasant attitude and is willing to help with anything. I finally guilted her into helping me by telling her that it was just going to live in our House forever and get really big ~ we needed to deal with it NOW. Her suggestion was that we put the Cat in the Bathroom and close the door. That was really very tempting ~ but the Vet was closed today and we would need confirmation that the Snake was gone and not just hiding somewhere.

We tried to think of someone to call. I knew that the Fire Department was working overtime with all of the flooding in the area. If it was an Alligator ~ we could call the Department of Wildlife ~ well, thankfully it wasn't an Alligator. We were just going to have to deal with it ourselves. I really don't like snakes and so it took tons of courage for me to deal with this Snake situation.

I decided to think positively and quickly made a little mental list of the pros. It wasn't poisonous, it was small, our home wasn't flooded, etc. We have so much to be thankful for ~ God is Good and we have been Blessed!! We can at the very least Save a Snake ~ they are one of God's creatures (even if I don't like them). *sigh*

So, I watched the Snake while my Baby Bunny got a Box and some Paper. The plan was that I would scoop the Snake onto the Paper and then drop it into the Box. Then, Baby Bunny would quickly close the lid and we could carry it safely outside. However, once the Snake was on the Paper it then turned and leapt at me. I screamed ~ Baby Bunny screamed and Zoe (our little Yorkie) thought the Snake was attacking ~ so she started Barking and running circles around us. My throat is still sore tonight from all the screaming I did this morning!!

We regrouped and I guess twice is the charm ~ the Snake was finally inside the Box. Baby Bunny quickly took the Box outside and after it's release ~ I decided I would feature Snakes Alive on my feature for Fingerprint Friday. Unfortunately ~ by the time I grabbed my Camera ~ the Snake was long gone.

I found this picture on the internet and this looks EXACTLY like the Snake that was in our Shower this morning!! Same Color, Same little yellow ring around it's neck and EXACTLY the same SIZE. Snakes Alive ~ Indeed!!!

Good heavens! My skin is crawling from this story, I don't want to think of what I would do in that situation - eeeek!!!

But it was great how you looked for things to be thankful for - that's a great reminder for us all.

I have to be truthful..I know they are one of God's creatures, but they frighten me..I don't care for them at all..So glad you didn't get any damage from the storms...

Oh NO Jayne!!!

You don't know how many times I gasped reading this story.

You have a fabulous attitude about it. I'm afraid God would have to work much harder with me to get me to see things the way you did.

Jayne, I've been thinking of you during the weather reports we're getting here...glad to hear you weathered the storm! But now...a snake? In the house??? ack! You were very brave to deal with it...I would have sat outside all day until someone came to rescue me! Take care...

I'm so glad to hear that you are okay...what a terrible storm!
I feel for you because I had a small snake in my house one time when my kids were small and my husband was at work and I had to take care of it. I was scared to death but I was able to get the snake into a mop bucket and then I freaked out and flushed it down the toilet! I must have flushed the toilet 50 times! Hopefully you won't have any more snakes...I really can't stand them! Cats are good to have around because they will alert you to the snakes presence (we have had them in the garage, too and our cat was acting strangely!).
Have a fabulous weekend!
Julie

That's a little ringneck snake. Believe it or not they never grow much bigger than that. Good for you for not killing it. I won't tell you how many pet snakes we had in our home when my boys were growing up ;-)

My cat just brought one of these snakes into our kitchen just now. We had no idea what it was, so google here we come...found your site, and enjoyed the article you wrote about the snake. Glad to know we are not alone.
