Green Bunny Products & Fabulous Giveaway!

We're so excited to announce that Bunny Chic Boutique will offer Eco Friendly Products in our new "Green Bunny Market". I need a "poster child/bunny" that immediately identifies these Fabulous new products. What do you think about this Green Bunny? Is he too modern looking or too green? I guess I should have announced the Grand Opening of the Green Bunny Market on St. Patrick's Day.

There will be several products debuting in the "Green Bunny Market" Section of Bunny Chic Boutique. We will offer Chic Market Bags and also adorable organic baby toys/blankies.

Several significant events happened all on the same Day: My Daughter went on a Field Trip to the local landfill, I received a poignant quote via email and I met a fabulous new friend in the Land of Blog.

Lauren's trip to the Landfill made such a huge impact on her and was one of those life changing moments for all of us. She was quite upset at the incredible amount of plastic bags that were EVERYWHERE ~ huge mountains of them blowing all over the Landfill. On that day home from school ~ she made an impassioned speech about this growing problem. Here are some facts from the National Geographic website:

~ It could take up to 1000 years for plastic bags to break down in the environment
~ Each year billions of bags end up as ugly litter.
~ Eventually they break down into tiny toxic bits polluting our soil, river, lakes and oceans
~ Production requires vast amounts of oil.
~ Countless animals needlessly die each year.

It is really overwhelming when you think about all of the Plastic Bags that just one family brings home from the Store in just one week or a Month or a Year. So, Billions of bags end up as litter each Year!!

She made me promise right then and there that I wouldn't use plastic bags for our groceries. I promised that I would do my part ~ even though I was thinking at the time ~ how am I going to make a difference? Yes, I admit it ~ I was being an ostrich with my head in the sand instead of a green bunny. Then......

This quote was waiting for me in my email inbox ~

"If you think you're too small to have an impact, try going to bed with a mosquito in the room."
— Anita Roddick

Yes ~ a tiny mosquito had kept me up half the night ~ what an eerie coincidence. Well, we live in Florida right next to Mosquito Lagoon ~ so this quote really "spoke volumes to me". Then......

I met Terri in the Land of Blog through the OWOH Event. We have a lot in common and I now know that our paths crossing wasn't accidental. She had some really adorable Market Bags for sale and so I purchased a few of them. I love so many things about these bags ~ they fold flat, look Fabulously Chic and I feel very European ~ just like I'm shopping in Paris in the Spring.

I'm thrilled to announce that Terri is making an exculsive line of Market Bags for the Bunny Chic Boutique website. There will be several different designs available and lots more to come.

Enter to Win a Bunny Chic Boutique Market Tote Bag!!

In celebration of our Grand Opening of the Green Bunny Market ~ we are giving away one of our Fabulous Market Bags (pictured above). All you have to do is leave a comment on this Blog Post and you will be entered. We will draw the name out of a basket on March 31, 2008 and if there are more than 50 comments ~ then we'll add another Market Tote to the Giveaway.

~ Close-up Photo of Fabric ~

This is just one of the many designs that will be available on Bunny Chic Boutique in our Green Bunny Market. There will be several Trendy Shabby Chic fabrics to choose from.

I'll leave you with this picture of a Sea Turtle with a Plastic Bag in it's mouth and ask ~ Are you a Green Bunny?

I'm determined to be just like a mosquito and make a huge impact!!

Please use Market Bags or even a Wheelbarrow instead of Plastic Bags!!

Hi Jayne! Sorry it took me so long to make it to your blog. I've been swamped and am in the midst of an enormous purge in my studio - and sadly part of it is old age creeping in that the days get away from me :~)

Kudos to you for going green! I always get paper bags so they can be recycled and we save cans to take to a recycle place not far from our home. It has had a wonderful impact on our son, showing him how easy it is to recycle and help Mother Earth!

I'd love to be included in your giveaway!!!! The market bag looks tres chic indeed!

You must be in buhny heaven with Easter so close :~) Hop to see you around more {okay, that's as good as I get with bunny humor LOL}

I am inspired by your going green and I plan to be greener too! I have a plain old bag (that I forget to bring with me grocery shopping-but forget) but one of these would be too chic. I love all of your vintage pictures too! Thanks for sharing with us - you're the best! Have a Happy Blessed Easter! Katie

Hi Jayne, What a great idea! The Green Bunny is great. He is very cute and eye catching. Very spring like! I am so glad your daughter is catching on at a early age. My daughter and I have always been recyclers. We love it. She use to work at Wal-Mart Corporate and headed a team of recyclers. It is amazing at peoples views. Refreshing to see the young ones who enjoy and hop aboard and help the turtles! Love the bag! Rhonda PS. Lots of pretties at the botique!

I think I like this "poster bunny" better than the one of the next post (just my 2 cents :-)

I would a chance to win this fabulous market bag! One of my local supermarkets in going to offer inexpensive canvas bags for groceries soon but this one is so much more tres chic! I think that switching to canvas bags (instead of plastic) is the easiest way that we can start going "green". Thanks for sharing, Jayne!

Best Wishes,
Julie
